Reuse your Body a voice and body workshop January 10, 2009, 2-5 p.m. Vocal trio, Celestial Mechanics, will lead a three hour workshop on vocal and somatic improvisation. Adapting elements of Feldenkrais, Alexander, and contemplative listening and movement practices, we will discover how to reuse our body in healthy ways to explore sound and movement simultaneously. There is no musical/vocal or movement prerequisite. All are welcome. During the course of the workshop we will create some simple pieces based on improvisation exercises and those willing can join in the evening performance, demonstrating different techniques that they have learned in the afternoon. CONCERT Celestial Mechanics - female vocal trio January 10, 1009, 8 p.m. Lainie Fefferman, Anne Hege and Sarah Paden as the Celestial Mechanics will present a concert of vocal music by established and emerging composers combining vocals, electronics and movement in wonderfully creative ways. Come enjoy an evening of singing like you've never heard before, somewhere between a chorus of angels, strange other worldly singing conversations, Robert Ashley meets Laurie Anderson meets Wham with yoga dancing thrown in for fun.
